The rolling hills of Shropshire are meant to have influenced JRR Tolkien’s vision of the Middle Earth in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy… and we can definitely understand why. Shropshire is the home to some weird concoctions of foods, and we wouldn’t be able to mention weird foods without mentioning the ‘Shropshire Fidget Pie’ – cured boiled pig meat, onion, potatoes, semolina, apple and cider – the pie seems to have gone out of fashion but in the town Ludlow you can still find it. Here at Hog Roast Condover you can be safe in the knowledge that you wont have to try any of Shropshire unusual foods… unless you want to?!
In 1779 the world’s first iron bridge was built in east Shropshire, hence the town’s name Iron Bridge. This tourist hotspot is so impressive and puts a great time stamp on the birth of the Industrial Revolution in the Shropshire area.
